SCOPE TERMINOLOGY
Adjustable Objective (A.O.) - Provides the ability to fine tune the front objective, maximizing target clarity and focus, while also correcting parallax error.
Coated Optics - Multi-coated optics provide less light loss and reduce glare from reflection, providing less eye strain and overall brighter image.
Durable Construction - NcSTAR™ scopes are designed to withstand the toughest of elements using high-durability aluminum alloy and anodized finish, providing a rifle scope that is virtually rust and scratch proof.
Exit Pupil - The size of the column of light that exits the eyepeice of the scope. The greater the size of the exit pupil the brighter the image. Divide the objective lens diameter by the power to determine the exit pupil (4x32 has an exit pupil of 8mm).
Maginification (Power) - The first series of numbers followed by an X (6x32, 3-9x42). A 6 power scope would present the object to be 6 times than it actually is.
Objective Lens - The diameter of the front lens measured in millimeters. Following the scope formula the numbers after the (x) determine the size of the objective (3-9x42). Larger Objective Lenses allow more light to pass through the scope.
Ocular Lens - The Ocular lens is the lens closest to the eye.
Power Ring (Variable Magnification Models Only) - Allows you to select the magnification power you wish to use. For example: you can go from 3 to 6 powers by just sliding the power ring on a 3-9 power scope, allowing quick magnification adjustment.
Windage / Elevation Turret - The windage turret (left to right) is located on the side of the scope, the elevation turret (up & down) is located on the top of the scope. All NcSTAR™ scopes feature either 1/2, 1/4 or 1/8 M.O.A. adjustments (at 100 yards).
Rheostat Knob (Illuminated Reticle Models Only) - NcSTAR™ Scopes that are equipped with an illuminated reticle use a Rheostat Knob is located either on top of the ocular housing or on the left side of the turret housing (depending on the model).
